MANY PEOPLE HAVE TWO DAYS TO TOUR IN ROME. In this time your party can join Roman Strolls' private Two Day Rome Tours of the essential sights of Eternal City. These tours can be scheduled to fit your arrival and departure schedule. These Rome Tours are ideally suited to travelers visiting Rome before, during or after a cruise or on any layover that permits two days to see the sights of the Eternal City.
DAY ONE
-Our Two Day Rome tours begin with a stroll through Ancient and Imperial Rome. See the Colosseum. Walk the Palatine hill, the Circus Maximus and Roman Forum, Theatre of Marcello, Jewish Ghetto and Tiberina Island.
-Dine at a restaurant in the area.
-Our Two Day Rome Tours continue with a stroll of the squares and fountains of central Rome: the Castel Sant' Angelo, Piazza Navona with Bernini's fountains, Pantheon and the Basilica of St. Mary over Minerva. Visit Trevi fountain, and walk through fashionable shopping districts to the Spanish Steps.
End the day with a wine tasting and cuisine in one of Rome's oldest osterias.
DAY TWO:
-Visit the Catacombs and ancient Appian Way. See the Circus Maximus and the Mouth of Truth (Bocca della Verita) in Rome, then drive to the old Appian Way. Explore the Christian catacombs. Then visit the basilica of St. Peter in Chains with the statue of Moses by Michelangelo adorning the tomb of Pope Julius II.
-Dine at a restaurant of your choice ranging from pizza and pasta, to gourmet restaurants with wine tasting near the Vatican.
-Your second day of Rome tours conclude at the Vatican City. You will see the Vatican Museums' collection of Greek and Roman statues. Experience the genius of Raphael's frescoes in the papal apartments of pope Julius II. Visit the restored Sistine Chapel and see the original vibrant colors of its astounding ceiling and wall by Michelangelo.
In St. Peter's Basilica, marvel at Michelangelo's Pieta, Raphael's and Bernini's works. Learn of apostle Peter, his burial under the Papal altar and of the construction of St. Peter's basilica.
